Boys Soccer Makes States

Sophomore Jeb Perez Makes State List

The DMAE Boys Varsity Soccer team had a number of highlights for the 2018 season during which they made States with a record of 8-6. The boys won against Teaneck, crushing them 7-1, and also succeeded in a shutout against Pascack Hills, 5-0. Although the team was inspired to beat Paramus, the number one seed in the state, the Raiders lost 3-4 in a tough battle on November 1, 2019,  in the 2nd round of States.

Jeb Perez, a 15 year-old sophomore midfielder on the DMAE Boys Varsity soccer team ranked in the top 75 sophomores in New Jersey and was on the Top Sophmores in New Jersey List on NJ.com. His talent on the field was evident with 10 assists during the season, helping his teammates to win games.

NJ.com described his game as “hard, aggressive, and smart,” which contributed to the team’s record of 8-6. He shows up to training as much as possible, ensures his dedication to the sport, and remembers to stay strong mentally. He admits that his skills come from his mental strength.

“If you’re mentally strong, physically you will succeed,” Jeb explained.

The team and Coach Matt Lawrence look forward to another great season of teamwork next year.
