Seniors Celebrated at Awards Ceremony
As the 2018-19 academic school year closes and seniors become increasingly anxious for college and what is ahead, the annual Senior Awards Ceremony are held. Taking place in the Dizzy Gillespie Auditorium during the evening of June 6th, the ceremony was meant to honor and celebrate the accomplishments of the class of 2019.
“I think we all (seniors) appreciate the administration and teachers planning and putting together this ceremony for us. It shows that the things we do, our accomplishments don’t go unnoticed and that we are appreciated,” senior Ana Rua said.
This year the ceremony was organized by guidance counselor; Rachel Cohen and featured an introduction by Ms. Rochman. Dozens of seniors were awarded in numerous award categories, including academic awards, scholarship awards, awards from religious organizations, and honorary awards.
“While not everyone won an award or got a scholarship, I think everyone appreciated the event and had a good time, because even if you didn’t win you got to support your friends and be happy that you’re so close to graduation,” senior Courtnie Beckford stated.
With the numerous awards given out, scholarships were also awarded from Greek Life organizations, religious groups, and The Dr. John Greico Scholarship Fund.
As the night wore on and the ceremony concluded the class of 2019 were all left feeling sentimental and looking forward to spending time with their classmates.
