ZONE Hall Builds Community

The ZONE recently launched a new program called the ZONE Hall, where students can drop by and do homework together while having fun with their peers. In this virtual study hall, students can listen to music, receive homework help, and even play games with others so they don’t have to study alone.

“This gives students, especially freshmen, a good way of getting to know others and making friends outside of class and clubs,” freshman Audrey Lin said.

The ZONE Hall was created by the ZONE Advisory Committee, a club designed for students to have a voice in what happens in the ZONE, to provide their classmates with a way to interact with their classmates who they haven’t seen in over a year in-person. ZONE Hall meets every Tuesday and Wednesday.

It was a passion project for all of the members, and they are excited to be on the ZONE Hall calls themselves. Amelia Rostant, the club adviser and adviser for the ZONE, is eternally grateful for what the ZONE Advisory Committee has done.

“I could not have asked for a more committed, lovely set of people to work with, and I mean it! They really care about their peers and brought up all kinds of ideas and ways in which to help enrich the lives of the student body,”  Ms. Rostant said.

This past school year has been one of the toughest for everyone, especially students who had to adjust their whole learning process in the pandemic. With ZONE Hall, they aspire to have some normalcy with having other students who relate to the struggle.

“I believe it’s important for students because switching over to virtual learning has been extremely isolating,” sophomore Gabriella Cardona said. “We’ve lost a sense of community and I think this will help motivate students to procrastinate less,” she added.

The ZONE hopes students will make the most out of this opportunity and the many others the ZONE provides.
